Our Philosophy

What sets us apart at Humble Hooves is that we put the human and horse connection first. We spend time to understand and learn from the herd. All our programs have social skill objectives tied into a curriculum with the horses.

Horses are incredibly aware of their surroundings: they are able to feel and mirror what is happening for the person in front of them, they can even assess your heartbeat. They reflect free from judgement, they live in the moment and can provide immediate feedback.

Equine Assisted Learning is about exploration of one’s self as one works through objectively driven exercises with horses. Our horses can be your teachers, healers, mentors and more.

Our Programs

Child & Youth Summer Leadership Camps

Explore the learning opportunities our horse have to offer with our Equine Assisted Leadership Camps. Our unique curriculum focuses on human growth and development. The children learn from the horses while participating in a wide variety of equine related activities such as groundwork, liberty, grooming, equine assisted learning, general horse care and more. At Humble Hooves, our focus is beyond riding.

If you are looking for a program to develop your child’s confidence and leadership skills, this is the program for you.

Our Equine Assisted Learning program focuses on life skills such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and so much more. This program has been used in partnership with School District 79 since 2021. Check our testimonials section below to see what our clients are saying about our programs!

Learning with Horses

We operate this program on and off property. Currently we partner with Heart Lake Farm to facilitate an EAL program in Saanich, B.C.

Equine Assisted Learning is a group learner-based educational experience with horses. Essentially, it’s a life skill class with horses at the teachers.

Participants are teamed up with a fellow participant and 1 horse, together they engage in objectively driven ground obstacles (non-riding) which highlight valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere. EAL is a researched program that is proven to be powerful, positive, educational and creative.

This program is specifically designed to encourage self confidence through validated hands on experiences. We currently can accommodate a group of up to 12 participants.

Wellness With Animals

These sessions offer a variety of horse related activities like: horsemanship, feeding, grooming and groundwork.

If you would like to develop skills in understanding horse body language and connection these are the sessions for you.

We can customize a program that is specific to your interest and goals. Like all Humble Hooves sessions, the focus will be on wellness for both the human and the horse. These can be booked as independent or group sessions.

We offer private and group sessions

Horse Powered Reading

These amazing sessions are 1.5 hours and booked as a group session 2x weekly for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Each program block uses specifically designed materials and curriculum determined by the the group’s goals. Together we play interactive literacy activities while using the horses as facilitators.

Groups are intended to be small.

These sessions are offered to ages 4 and up.
